Non Profit Corporation Reporting Deadlines Near

For non-profit corporations with fiscal years ending June 30th, the time is drawing near to file annual reporting documents. November 15th is the deadline for IRS tax reporting and Massachusetts Secretary of State and Attorney General documents.

New "Blake Block" Construction to Begin

After waiting many years, Bedford residents are finally seeing progress on a new, revived "Blake Block" across from the Town Common. 10,000 square feet of restaurant, retail and residential space is on its way!

Estate Planning, Bankruptcy, Real Estate- Homestead Law

After several failed attempts, the Massachusetts Legislature has finally revised the state’s out-of-date Homestead law.  The new Homestead law, which goes into effect on March 16, 2011, automatically protects up to $125,000 of a family’s home equity from many creditors while allowing homeowners to protect much more equity if they take the extra step of filing a Declaration of Homestead in their Registry of Deeds.  There are many other provisions in the new law. Land Use- Permit Extension Act

Massachusetts state lawmakers gave final approval to the Permit Extension Act of 2010 on Saturday, July 31st , as part of an Economic Development Reorganization package (Senate Bill No. 2582).  This new law is a landmark achievement for the Home Builders Association of Massachusetts and a benefit to all developers and individuals who obtained local or state permits (with some exceptions) between August 15, 2008 and August 15, 2010.  The Act, signed by Governor Patrick, extends all permits in effect or existence during the stated tolling period for a period of two years beyond the approval expiration date. READ MORE
