The Community:
For the 15th year, Lisa Freed will participate in the one mile Massachusetts Breast Cancer Against the Tide swim. The swim raises money for research into the prevention of breast cancer. See: Bedford Minuteman Article or her Pledge Page! Brown and Brown raised $315 for the Jimmy Fund on Opening Day participating in the Rally Against Cancer. Click here for our Team PHOTO! Speaking Out:
January, 2008: Pamela Brown and Sarunna Jin presented a talk on health care proxies for the Women's Alliance, a subgroup of the Bedford Chamber of Commerce. Pam and Sarunna discussed important Estate Planning Documents, including Wills, Health Care Proxy, Power of Attorney and Trusts. IN addition, attendees had the opportunity to complete a valid Health Care Proxy and schedule a free follow-up consultation at Brown & Brown. November. 2007: Pam has presented a workshop, "Writing Reasonable and Defensible Decisions" for the Massachusetts Citizen Planner Training Collaborative. June, 2007: Pamela Brown presented a session at the Massachusetts Association of Planning Directors Annual Conference on 2007 court decisions in Land Use.

| Awards:
January. 2008: Lisa Freed was honored by the American Society of Civil Engineers Committed on Diversity and Women in Civil Engineering as the 2008 recipient of the national Diversity Champion award. Established in 2003, the award is given to a civil engineer based on his or her contributions to the profession through his or her support and promotion of inclusiveness within the professional community. Lisa was recognized for her work as the New England Regional Coordinator for the National Engineers Week Future City Competition, and encouraging young women and minorities to enter the engineering profession. June, 2007: Lisa Freed was awarded the Outstanding Civil Engineering Alumni Gold Award from Union College. The Gold award is given to an alumna with more than ten years of distinguished professional service after graduation from Union.
