BROWN & BROWN PC

Municipal

Brown & Brown has a long history of assisting municipalities with their planning, zoning and development needs. Our range of experience takes us across Massachusetts, from small towns to more urban cities. We take pride in our ability to get to know an area, its people and character and find the right way to meet their collective needs.

Zoning Bylaws

From original bylaws, to re-writes, to code review, Brown & Brown has addressed Zoning Bylaw issues of every sort. We have written new and revised bylaws ranging from senior housing, to new residential zones, to industrial mixed use, to signage and to adult use areas. We enjoy working with municipal clients to create the bylaw that will not only meet the desires of the municipal boards and review bodies, but also be acceptable to the residents, town meeting and ultimately, the Attorney General's office. We can work with you, your special interest groups and committees and finally help chaperone the bylaw through the acceptance process.

Comprehensive Plan Review

Most towns and cities have a Master or Comprehensive plan followed by the local boards, which sets out the goals and objectives of the municipality. These plans require periodic updates and reviews, to ensure they remain focused on the current needs of the residents, businesses and town officials. Brown & Brown can help review the documents and determine whether it continues to meet the client's needs. We can also help target areas for improvement, update and assist with draft language to that end.

Peer Review

Brown & Brown can offer that much needed second opinion when it comes to project review. Municipalities often consult us to review current projects before the Boards for any red flag items, or simply another source of feedback.  We are happy to review documents, plans and attend hearings as necessary for your Board to feel secure they are covering all the concerns a project may generate.
